Almost 2 months…

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

… since we got married on 2 October. And as of 10pm 14 November 2009, we finished the Taipei wedding reception too! It was awesome to see all our family and friends from HK/Japan. It was particularly great, for me, to see my adorable grandpa and aunts, who have flown in from LA for the big event. Likewise I think I can speak on behalf of Ben to say that he was mighty pleased to have his grandma and aunts/uncles witness him tie the knot (again!).

Looking back, we did/organised everything in 3 days! TOO GOOD! Either that, or the people we engaged have been very efficient (which is more likely the case!!).

There are two albums that we would like to share. Hope you enjoy them! First here and second here. xx

Thank you everyone xx

Little visitors

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

Life has become so crazy lately with lots outings, visitors and just when we feel like we’ve caught up with life, we have fallen a few steps behind again .. arrrgh ;p

My matron of honour, Lucy, and her little boy and girl were in town last week (they’ve since left and I miss them dearly).. Anyway, it was so great to have Lucy here. We spent a late night over creme brulee tea and chocolate cake talking about how we can get the tailor to make the bridesmaid dresses.. Sorry if it sounds a little too petty to bring up but it was not the talk as such but more the process of how we just chatted (even if it was about dresses) and threw ideas at each other and sometimes, I really miss that. You know, having a good friend on the same wave length who you can just bounce ideas off? This may sound trivial, but sometimes such trivial things are the most cherished.

Anyhooo, it was so good to see little Ethan (our page boy) and his sister, Charlotte. Kids grow up too quickly for my liking but it was so much fun interacting with the little kiddos, they are so carefree and each with such different characters and temperaments. Seeing the Ho siblings makes me think about how our kids will turn out. Gosh, I wish they take after Ben’s gentle temperament and not my bull-like stubbornness! Ha!

Hosts of our wedding reception

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

We actually confirmed these two beautiful people’s availabilities much earlier in the year, so I apologise for not sharing sooner – me bad!

Geeyoun Kim
The lovely Geeyoun! We are so pleased to have Geeyoun as one of our MCs. I met Geeyoun ‘officially’ in the year of our Masters studies back in 1998 (10+ years ago!) I say ‘officially’ because we did the SAME course in university but we never attended the same class and we both do not recall having ever seen each other before our Masters year - I refer to those as the wasted years because Geeyoun is the fun-est girl ever and I can’t believe I missed out on three years of Geeyoun fun! Geeyoun has always been the most supportive friend and one whose words are always comforting and wise. Being a successful marketer, she’s also very creative, super organised and thoughtful so we are 110% certain she will be FABULOUS in her MC role - we can’t wait!!
self portrait time!

Andy Wang
Ah, Mr Wang.. or fondly referred to as duldul (or dad). Andy is an incredible guy, who often describes himself as someone who is ultra daggy but don’t put yourself down duldul, you are tonnes of fun and totally daggy in a very cool way! LOL. I first met Andy back in high school but didn’t get to know him well until university where we shared quite a number of classes. You may not believe this but Andy is a seasoned wedding MC (see how popular he is!!!) so we were mighty pleased when he said YES to our request (I know he prefers to just enjoy the night without the hosting responsibilities so we are doubly thankful for his generosity.)

THANK YOU ANDY AND GEEYOUN! You guys totally rock and we are so sure you will make our night super special.

WE LOVE YOU! x

The girls

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

Oooops…for three months, I’ve neglected to introduce our bridal party, how horrible of me… better late than never I guess ;p So here goes…

Matron of honour: Lucy
I consider Lucy to be my best-est friend! We’ve known each other since year nine and our first encounter was working on a play together in English class. We have since travelled many times together and we love shopping together, even though we are miles apart most of the recent past, we still end up buying some of the ’same’ things! Some may call it coincidental, but I know it’s because we are so similar. But that’s all trivial because most importantly, I know she will always be there for me and likewise, I will always be there for her (and her two kids, my godson/god daughter!)

Maid and matron: Fontein and Emily
I love these two girls in different ways, let me start with the maid, Fontein. What can I say except that we are both stubborn bulls and share a love for everything beautiful, particularly food! Her passion for travel took us all over France and now that passion has taken her to London and I miss her dearly. She’s my facial buddy, my day spa buddy and my food buddy.

Emily is one of my oldest-est friends. I think we met on a train trip early on in year seven. Somehow we got talking and have been friends since - though I don’t think we’ve ever shared a single class together!! Ever!! Not in high school nor at university. In some ways, I think that highlights the strength of our friendship. She is the rock I can always count on for advice (especially when I need to hear that girls are always right and boys are never right ;p) - and too right she is for saying so!

Emily and I @80s kok party LOL!

I am so honoured to have these girls as my greatest friends and I can’t wait to share our biggest day with them.
Girls - I love you all x

I will get Ben to blog about his boys soon!! ^^

Thank you Esta

Young Esta took us to dinner last night to celebrate our engagement. Having dinner with Esta is always a fun and entertaining affair as we often try out new restaurants none of us have been before and catch up on all kinds of things.

And last night, we had a lovely French meal with conversations about how Ben should have consulted Esta on ways to make the proposal flawless but we concluded that he more than made up with the gorgeous ring ^^ (Besides, I thought how Ben proposed was super sweet!)

Now, we need to talk about the little French bistro we went to because as you will soon find out, if you didn’t know already, we are super foodies and love to share our eat-out experiences.

Vamps Bistro is a quaint, little French restaurant at Five Ways, Paddington. Located at the heart of Five Ways, its exterior is unassuming yet bold at the same time. The interior is tiny but bustled with energy and the open kitchen added a very sincere approach to the way they make food.

The food was absolutely delicious. Every single dish we had last night was divine but we particularly liked the French onion soup for entree (the escargot apparently was great too - Ben’s entree) and the seafood crepe was gold. Our desserts were also beautiful: Esta had the crepe which she gulped down in two seconds flat (not unusual really but it did indicate how delicious it was as even for her, the speed she down it last night was FAST!)

If you enjoy French, Vamps Bistro is definitely a place to visit. We had the prix fixe menu, which is great value at $45 for 3 courses. We will definitely be back for more, maybe for breakfast next time. Vamps is BYO only.
