Wedding album

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

Merry Christmas and Happy 2010 everyone!

I feel so bad that I’ve neglected this blog of ours for so long since we tied the knot. But all is good, I’m back - hopefully on a more regular basis going forward.

So what has been happening? Well, a lot and not much. Life has treated us well and after we got back from the November trip, we bogged down to prepare for the huge Christmas retail season, which was, BUSY! Then, just when I thought we could relax, our wedding photographer kindly reminded us that we needed to pick photos for our wedding album. How hard can it be right? HOW WRONG!!

At first, I was an optimist, looking at the photos on the lappie and jotting down the ones I liked, my faves and must haves, before deciding that choosing every other photo when I should really only go for 60-70 was a no go! And after going only half way through and already chosen 150 or so photos, I thought there has got to be a better way. THERE HAD TO BE!

So what did I do? I went and printed out over 400 photos (after editing out another few hundred) and split them into the different segments of the day and worked from there. As you can see from the photo, it was one mammoth task and it took me a good 3-4 days to get through it.. you must think I’m crazy right? Well, maybe. But you’d be pleased to know, I am done!! Yay!! And I will slowly group the photos and give them out to guests - hit two birds with one stone huh. Yes, smart JJ! Ha!

Since then, Trish has sent back the designed album so now I just need to sit Ben down to get his ok. It’s not over till the fat lady sings…..

The after effects of gym; am I normal?

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

Just when I think I have got my gym rountine down pat (successful in attending at least two Body Pump classes each week since my first session), I have started to wonder how effective gyming really is. You see, every single time I was done with gym I get super hungry, so hungry that I could down a huge turkish sandwich filled with six ingredients (healthy though, I think, except for the carb of the bread) or a salad which, under normal circumstances I could only finish half (or at most two thirds).

I can’t help but wonder whether I have been overdoing the eating part and not enough of the exercising?!?! Am I normal? Or do you think the extra eating will offset the exercise I’ve been doing? Tell me I’m normal… please!!!

Oh and there are only 58 days to go!

I made it..

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

.. to the gym that is. After a three-week delay to my original plan, I went to my first Body Pump class at lunch time today. And I’ve gotta say, I may as well be dead. I realised that I’ve no tricep, bicep, shoulder, back, chest and leg muscles (and definitely no abs) - frankly, none from head to toe.

Anyhow, after at least two years’ absence (I’ve lost count), I realised that despite my muscles having gone on strike, I actually remember the BP class quite well. I remember the techniques, the steps and even the music didn’t change all that much. I must say though, I had forgotten all about the pain and the sweat.

Not wanting to sound like a masochist, but I really enjoyed working out and sweating. My mind was empty during the 45min session as I concentrated on not tripping over and looking like a fool. But it was a good mindless period, I think it’s probably quite healthy for the mind to rest while the body works for once.

Anyhow, how I sidetrack. I’ve got less than 2.5 months to get these arms of mine into shape, I’d better follow this session up with many, many more. Wish me luck.

Almost there…

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Golly, I just realised I’ve not updated the blog for three weeks! First, let’s start the post with a greeting to those family and friends whom I’ve not had the pleasure to chat to recently. Howdy!

I can’t really update you on much though. Let’s see… we are currently battling to get the invitations printed, having two versions have their complications but we hope to get them out to you soon!

Otherwise, we have finalised our church program, doing it was not easy. We needed to come up with the Processional, Recessional, Signing of the Register music, the readings and secure the readers… I for one, am glad that is out of the way.

What else? Mmm, we’ve got a whole bunch of info from our DJ supplier. Maybe it’s just me, but I didn’t realise we need to organise songs for the entrance of the bridal party, the song for bouquet throwing, song for the first dance, song for cake cutting, songs for dinner, songs for this, songs for that… fortunately, their lists are very comprehensive and split into recommendations for specific events, eg the garter or bouquet throwing as well as another that is split by era, eg if you prefer music from the 50’s and 60’s, there is a list full of artists and songs that may suit etc. I didn’t realise it was so involved!! That pack has been left on the side as we could not face doing it right now, seems so daunting!

Oh… my dresses are all being taken up now so things are tracking well on that front. I’m still at two minds about accessories, sighs!

And now, I’m off to book our tickets back to Taipei.

Almost there.. almost…

100 days to go!

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Ah yes, I was bored enough to work out that today is the 100th day before our big day. While I can’t speak for Ben, knowing that made me a bit more aware that the big day is upon us and there are still so many things to do! Well, you’ve read about our potential ‘venue’ freak-out issue, but there are seriously many other things that are causing a bit of concern. I’ve just dusted them under the carpet till I need to deal with them. I am a firm believer that everything will work themselves out in the end… hahha.. or just plain lazy.

Headache list
#1 AV - got someone to provide me with a quote, I just need to get back to her.
#2 DJ/Band - still haven’t decided and haven’t really searched mmmmm…
#3 Logistics on the day, ie transporting the boys, the parents etc.
#4 We’ve had to cancel twice on our suit hire people.. we must be jinxed.
#5 Not quite a headache yet, but the table seating will surely be fun.. NOT!
#6 Also technically not too stressful right now but flights to Taipei for me, Ben and my parents… bro hasn’t decided if he wants to go yet!

In Taiwan
#1 I really need to call our events coordinator in Taipei. No idea what’s happening on that front. Mental note.
#2 Photographer or no photographer … that is the question.

Mmm.. you know what, now that I’ve listed them all down, it’s not so bad. ^^

See you in person in 100 days if not earlier!

should we start worrying?

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

Mmm, the reception venue refurbishment has not started (it was meant to finish in July?!) and our menu tasting booking won’t be available till two weeks before the big day. The event coordinator even said “you may be our first diners in the new restaurant!!” mmm…  should we start worrying?

we’re excited

Monday, June 15th, 2009

We were so excited this past week, easily evidenced by the many posts I’ve blogged in the space of two days! Not only did we start the invitation process, kindly designed by wing of krafted by wing lau, we also saw the first draft our presentation slideshow, which is another kind contribution from Karen of akakumo (her illustrations and her understanding of what we want to convey is so refreshing and truly slides of art!)

Oh we can’t wait to send out the invitations and share with you the slideshow on the wedding day.

happy jane signing off on a sunny monday.

my gowns

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

Sorry girls and boys, this blog may be henceforth a little dry as I update you on bits and pieces you’ve already read about.

First, I went to try on my wedding gown on Saturday. Size 8 is almost perfect for me so slight modification required but overall, it fits perfectly. Woohoo.. I tried the gown on with the shoes I bought online and I am super-excited about the combination, yippee!! Got a chapel veil (ie long) to go with it too. Nice.

Also, really close to the second of two dresses I plan to wear at the Taipei reception. Have I talked about the first one I bought yet? If I haven’t, it’s a red Vera Wang.. and the second will likely be a Lisa Ho creamy white gown. It’s all slowly coming together, so exciting!!
