Watermark it is!

WooHoo, we finally decided on the Watermark restaurant as the reception venue for our wedding. Watermark came up as an option after talking about potential venue locations with my ex-colleague, Caroline, over lunch one day late last year.  Thank you Mossy!

Watermark is located right on Balmoral Beach with a jetty and some boats docked in the nearby waters. We love it because it is enclosed by floor-to-ceiling windows, with uninterrupted views of the beach - absolutely gorgeous. It’s being renovated in June (which I suppose in some ways is a little bit of a gamble on our part, for all we know, they could potentially turn the venue into something ultra modern, which is not the ambience we’d like for our wedding), but….. we were assured that the romantic and cosy atmosphere of the restaurant will be retained - let’s hope so!

Jenni, the events coordinator at the Watermark restaurant is also very lovely and helpful and we look forward to working with her!

TIP for future husband/wife-to-be’s: We also like The Wharf Restaurant as a reception venue. It has a really great wedding package with very reasonable meal/beverage inclusions and the view is absolutely stunning - again, it has the floor-to-ceiling windows we adore. However, due to its commitment to the Sydney Theatre Company, availabilities are few and far between but check it out, it may just be the perfect venue for you and your partner.

Thank you Esta

Young Esta took us to dinner last night to celebrate our engagement. Having dinner with Esta is always a fun and entertaining affair as we often try out new restaurants none of us have been before and catch up on all kinds of things.

And last night, we had a lovely French meal with conversations about how Ben should have consulted Esta on ways to make the proposal flawless but we concluded that he more than made up with the gorgeous ring ^^ (Besides, I thought how Ben proposed was super sweet!)

Now, we need to talk about the little French bistro we went to because as you will soon find out, if you didn’t know already, we are super foodies and love to share our eat-out experiences.

Vamps Bistro is a quaint, little French restaurant at Five Ways, Paddington. Located at the heart of Five Ways, its exterior is unassuming yet bold at the same time. The interior is tiny but bustled with energy and the open kitchen added a very sincere approach to the way they make food.

The food was absolutely delicious. Every single dish we had last night was divine but we particularly liked the French onion soup for entree (the escargot apparently was great too - Ben’s entree) and the seafood crepe was gold. Our desserts were also beautiful: Esta had the crepe which she gulped down in two seconds flat (not unusual really but it did indicate how delicious it was as even for her, the speed she down it last night was FAST!)

If you enjoy French, Vamps Bistro is definitely a place to visit. We had the prix fixe menu, which is great value at $45 for 3 courses. We will definitely be back for more, maybe for breakfast next time. Vamps is BYO only.

new life awaits

Our salad days began on 25 December 2008 - the day Ben proposed and I said yes.

It is with a lot of excitement and enthusiasm that we start this blog. For the most part, you will probably find a lot of wedding planning bits and bobs, our eating expeditions and Ben’s ’supposed’ healthy salad/eating routines - he needs to trim weight for our big day!! (If you catch him eating something like Burger King, tell him off!!!) But essentially, this blog is about us, embarking on our new life together.

By the way, I love my engagement ring (yes, it is on the wrong finger and yes, it is being resized and YES, my fiance has great taste!)
